Professional Project Reflections

We are finished with the professional projects! I really enjoyed working with the GSA to create posters that we can use in the future. The greatest part was collaborating with the club, because it made it feel like an actual community service project, not an assignment. I took the lead for this project and I was very comfortable with it. It was super rewarding because the GSA and Mrs. Moran want to try to make it the t-shirt design for this year! Even if it doesn't work out, the fact that they considered it is so amazing!

Some of the biggest challenges I had was making sure everything in our group projects was cohesive. In doing that, everything would look really good. What's difficult is when there are 3 different minds working on the posters- so many ideas made it a bit challenging to keep everyone in line. Eventually, the style guide helped a lot. Having exactly what factors need to be the same among the projects.

I was most proud of my ability to collaborate with my partners and incorporate their own ideas into our general design for the GSA posters. I think I improved most in the fact that I did not get as overwhelmed as I usually do? I tend to have a lot on my plate and I actually handled the stress well.

I think I constant area of improvement for me is time management. I think that will always be an evolving issue for me- as my schedule changes, I need to be able to adapt my art time to my academics. So far, I've improved greatly. Honestly, the professional project curriculum worked really well for me. I felt that I had the freedom to be a leader in my group while still learning how to optimize the opinions of my client. I really wouldn't change a thing- it forces students to focus on accountability in a group setting, and that skill will be valuable even past the current course.

AAaa!!! I am so excited for the 20% project! I'm dedicated to the idea of including my Puerto Rican Culture into it, so I have to play around with my sketches and platforms to see what I can scavenge up. SO far I've been thinking of a website idea.. who knows.
